2600 MODIFICATIONS AND UPGRADES
THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME OPERATIONAL HINTS AND GUIDELINES CONCERNING THE CMS IMPROVED ARP MODEL 2600. INTERFACING WITH MIDI GEAR - The internal midi interface is no longer available from Kenton
INTERFACING WITH AN EXTERNAL MIDI TO CV CONVERTER GREATLY INCREASES THE ACCURACY AND STABILITY OF THE OSCILLATOR TRACKING IN A 2600, PRODUCING A VERY PRECISE SOUNDING INSTRUMENT. STOCK ARP KEYBOARDS EXHIBIT QUITE A BIT OF DRIFT AND FLUCTUATING PITCH. CMS RECOMMENDS USING A GOOD QUALITY MIDI KEYBOARD CONTROLLER ALONG WITH A MIDI TO CV CONVERTER TO CONTROL YOUR ARP 2600.
IMPORTANT NOTE: WHEN THE ORIGINAL ARP KEYBOARD IS NOT CONNECTED, THE KEYBOARD CV OUTPUT JACK BECOMES THE KEYBOARD CV BUSS INPUT.
HERE IS THE BASIC PATCH:
The CV from the MIDI converter goes to the jack marked "KBD CV OUTPUT". The gate from the MIDI converter goes to the jack below the slide switch in the AR section. Set this switch to down. Thats it! |

IMPORTANT NOTE: THE ORIGINAL ARP KEYBOARD MUST BE UNPLUGGED FROM THE CINCH JONES CONNECTOR ON THE SIDE PANEL FOR THIS PATCH TO WORK
