C.M.S. 9027 MODULE CONTAINS TWO INNOVATIVE AND DISTINCTIVLY
COMPLEX
WAVEFORM PROCESSING CIRCUITS
THE
VOLTAGE CONTROLLED HARMONIC MULTIPLIER IS DESIGNED FOR ADDING MULTIPLE
HARMONIC OVERTONES TO SMOOTH OR SLOPED WAVEFORMS AS WELL AS COMPLEX
WAVEFORMS. THIS UNIT IS ALSO VERY USEFUL IN PRE VCF AND POST VCF
APPLICATIONS. SEPARATE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE INPUTS YIELD DIFFERENT
RESPONSES. WHEN 2 VCOS ARE FED INTO EACH INPUT, THE CIRCUIT PRODUCES
VOLTAGE CONTROLLED COMPLEX RING MODULATOR TYPE WAVEFORMS. THE UNIT
CAN ALSO BE USED FOR VOLTAGE CONTROLLED HARMONIC DISTORTION ON EXTERNAL
NATURAL SOURCES. TWO ATTENUATED MODULATION CONTROL INPUTS ARE PROVIDED.
THE
BALANCED MODULATOR IS A HIGH ACCURACY, DISCRETE MULTIPLIER EMPLOYING
DOUBLE WILSON CURRENT MIRRORS COUPLED WITH A HIGH SPEED VOLTAGE
CONTROLLED MIXER FOR SELECTION OF THE CARRIER SOURCE OF THE MULTIPLIER.
IT HAS 4 ATTENUATED INPUTS: SIGNAL, CARRIER A, CARRIER B, AND MODULATION.
THIS UNIT CAN FUNCTION AS A STANDARD BALANCED MODULATOR BUT ALSO
HAS SOME EXTREMELY INNOVATIVE OPERATING MODES: 1 - WHEN 2
SEPARATE VCOS ARE FED INTO EACH CARRIER INPUT, AMAZING MORPHING
TEXTURES ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH VOLTAGE CONTROL OF THE MODULATION
INPUT. 2 - 10 V D.C. IS NORMALLED TO THE CARRIER A INPUT.
IN THIS MODE, THE CARRIER WAVEFORM IS PATCHED INTO THE CARRIER B
INPUT, WHEN THE MODULATION VOLTAGE IS VARIED, THE RING MODULATION
AMOUNT WILL VARY FROM DRY TO FULL RING MODULATION. 3 - THE
MODULATION INPUT IS CAPABLE OF RUNNING AT AUDIO FREQUENCY FOR VERY
COMPLEX TONALITIES. 4 - CARRIER A IS D.C. COUPLED TO FACILITATE
THE STANDARD VCA FUNCTION. CARRIER INPUT B IS A.C. COUPLED AS AN
ALTERNATIVE. 5 - THE SIGNAL INPUT IS PROVIDED WITH A SWITCH
PROVIDING AC OR DC COUPLING . THIS PROVIDES MORE OPTIONS ON PROCESSING
AUDIO SIGNALS AS WELL AS PROVIDING AN OUTPUT FOR THE VOLTAGE CONTROLLED
MIXER WHEN 10V DC IS APPLIED.

DISCRETE. IT IS A HYBRID, MEANING IT USES A COMBINATION OF MATCHED
TRANSISTORS AND INTEGRATED CIRCUITS (CHIPS). ALL PROCESSING SECTIONS
INCLUDING ALL TRANSCONDUCTANCE STAGES USE OUR SPECIALLY MATCHED
DISCRETE TRANSISTORS. LEVEL BOOSTING IS PERFORMED BY HIGH SLEW RATE,
LOW NOISE INTEGRATED CIRCUITS.
