C.M.S.
MODULE 9017 CONTAINS A PROFESSIONAL VOLTAGE CONTROLLED AMPLIFIER
AND A HIGH ACCURACY BALANCED MODULATOR DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR
USE IN THE C.M.S. MR-2 MODULAR SYNTHESIZER.
THESE
UNITS EXHIBIT LOW DISTORTION AND FULL FREQUENCY RESPONSE FROM DC
CONTROL VOLTAGES TO 40KHz.
THE
VCA HAS TWO ATTENUATED INPUTS, INVERTING AND NON INVERTING, THAT
WILL ACCEPT BOTH AUDIO AND CONTROL VOLTAGES FOR AMPLITUDE PROCESSING.
THE VCA ALSO HAS SEPARATE, VARIABLE LINEAR AND EXPONENTIAL CONTROL
INPUTS AVAILABLE SIMULTANEOUSLY. A LED CONTROL MONITOR PROVIDES
VISUAL FEEDBACK ON EACH CONTROL LEVEL THIS ENABLES THE PRECISE MIXING
OF 2 ENVELOPES AND IS ESPECIALLY USEFUL FOR PERCUSSIVE, PUNCHY ENVELOPES.
AN "INITIAL GAIN" CONTROL ADJUSTS THE AMPLITUDE DIRECTLY
FROM THE FRONT PANEL. THE VCA HAS AN INTEGRATED INVERTER SWITCH
THAT INVERTS THE LINEAR CONTROL.
THE
BALANCED MODULATOR IS A HIGH ACCURACY, DISCRETE MULTIPLIER EMPLOYING
DOUBLE WILSON CURRENT MIRRORS. IT HAS 2 ATTENUATED INPUTS, CARRIER
AND MODULATON. EACH INPUT IS PROVIDED WITH SWITCHES PROVIDING AC
OR DC COUPLING . THIS PROVIDES MORE OPTIONS ON PROCESSING AUDIO
SIGNALS AS WELL AS PROVIDING A STANDARD VCA FUNCTION.
THE
BALANCED MODULATOR CAN ALSO BE USED AS A SECOND VCA. AUDIO IS INSERTED
IN THE CARRIER INPUT SET TO AC COUPLING. AND THE CONTROLLING VOLTAGE
IS INSERTED IN THE MODULATON INPUT SET TO DC COUPLING.
