THE
C.M.S. 9009 SAMPLE & HOLD MODULE IS A FUNCTIONAL CIRCUIT PACKAGE
DESIGNED FOR USE IN THE C.M.S. 9000 MODULAR SYSTEM. THE MODULE CONTAINS
A SAMPLE AND HOLD CIRCUIT, A NOISE GENERATOR AND A VOLTAGE CONTROLLED
CLOCK. THE 9009 IS USUALLY USED TO GENERATE RANDOM OR PERIODIC STAIRCASE
WAVEFORMS FOR COMPLEX MODULATION OF VCO'S, VCF'S, ETC.
A SAMPLE
AND HOLD CIRCUIT HAS A SIGNAL INPUT, A SIGNAL OUTPUT AND A SAMPLE
COMMAND INPUT. WHEN A PULSE IS APPLIED TO THE SAMPLE COMMAND INPUT,
THE OUTPUT SIGNAL VOLTAGE ASSUMES THE SAME VALUE AS THE INPUT SIGNAL
VOLTAGE. AFTER THE SAMPLE COMMAND PULSE, THE OUTPUT SIGNAL VOLTAGE
WILL HOLD AT THE SAME LEVEL UNTIL ANOTHER PULSE IS APPLIED.
THE
9009 SAMPLE & HOLD CIRCUIT HAS 2 SIGNAL INPUTS. SIGNAL INPUT
A IS THE EXTERNAL PORT AND HAS A JACK AND ATTENUATOR. SIGNAL INPUT
B IS PREWIRED TO THE WHITE NOISE SOURCE AND ALSO HAS ITS OWN ATTENUATOR.
THERE ARE 3 SAMPLE COMMAND INPUTS: INPUT A IS THE EXTERNAL PORT
AND HAS A JACK AND PULSE/GATE INPUT SWITCH. INPUT B IS PREWIRED
TO THE VOLTAGE CONTROLLED CLOCK PULSE AND HAS ITS OWN ENABLE SWITCH.
INPUT C IS THE MANUAL TRIGGER PUSH-BUTTON. THERE ARE 2 SIGNAL OUTPUTS
PROVIDED. PROCESSING VOLTAGE RANGE IS BIDIRECTIONAL AT +/-10V (20V
PP). THE 9009 SAMPLE & HOLD CIRCUIT IS BUILT FOR HIGH SPEED
OPERATION. THE SAMPLE COMMAND PULSE CAN BE CLOCKED AT AUDIO FREQUENCY
FOR COMPLEX EFFECTS. ALSO THE SAMPLE & HOLD CIRCUIT IS CAPABLE
OF PROCESSING AUDIO FOR GRANULAR DIGITAL EFFECTS.
THE
VOLTAGE CONTROLLED CLOCK IS AN EXPONENTIALLY CONTROLLED VOLTAGE
CONTROLLED OSCILLATOR WITH RAMP, PULSE AND SQUARE WAVE OUTPUTS.
IT HAS A MAIN FREQUENCY VERNIER AND A RANGE SWITCH PERMITTING AUDIO
FREQUENCY OPERATION AS WELL AS LFO MODE. IT HAS 1 CONTROL INPUT
WITH ASSOCIATED JACK AND ATTENUATOR. ALSO, THERE IS AN EXTERNAL
SYNC THAT FUNCTIONS AS A RESTART FOR THE CLOCK. THE SYNC FUNCTIONS
IN THE AUDIO FREQUENCY RANGE PERMITTING THE 9009 VOLTAGE CONTROLLED
CLOCK TO BE USED AS AN ADDITIONAL SYNC WAVEFORM GENERATOR WHEN SYNCHRONIZED
TO AN EXTERNAL C.M.S. VCO PULSE WAVE.
THE NOISE
GENERATOR HAS THREE INDIVIDUAL OUTPUTS: WHITE, PINK, AND SLOW RANDOM.
